Building-wide backup for fiber residents

A regional fiber internet provider wanted a backup that could carry entire residential buildings if fiber went down.

SimpleCom built multi-carrier bonded 5G at each location.

Client

Industry

Telecommunications & Fiber

Solution

Multi-carrier WAN bonding

Scope

Buildings of up to 500 residents

Hosting

Provider data centers

Technology partners

Peplink

The challenge

Hundreds of residents on one fiber line

When fiber is cut, every resident in a building loses service at once, and the provider takes the calls.

The provider wanted a backup with gigabit-class ambitions, which meant engineering and advanced routing rather than a single cellular modem.

The solution

Multi-carrier bonding at every building

SimpleCom installed four to six dome antennas per location and bonded multiple carriers into one connection, hosted in the provider’s own data centers.

Multi-carrier bonding

Several carriers combined so no single network is a weak link.

4 to 6 domes per site

Sized to the building and its residents.

One bill

All 5G carriers billed through SimpleCom.

Provider-hosted

Bonding runs in the provider’s data centers, under its control.

The result

A backup that behaves like a main line

Bonded throughput measured above 695 Mbps aggregate across four 5G streams, enough to keep a full building online while fiber is repaired.

500

residents per building, up to

4 to 6

domes per location

695+

Mbps measured aggregate throughput
